I love it. The engine doesn`t seem too happy at 90 degrees though.

Those are the ones that are all motor, no turbos on russian truck-makes it too complicated. they are meant to be able to be fixed by a novice in the middle of no where with just basic tools. I really really want one ! I wouldn't have any use for it, and more than one ex-eastern block person has told me that they destroy your kidneys from the no give suspension but still. I mean, you would probably never have to fix anything on it-heaven in my eyes.

I used to think that all the ex eastern block trucks didn't run turbo's, but in some of those trials, the Tatras [the monster 8 wheelers] are certainly running them. I have been recently been informed that it's just the russians who don't believe in them.

Some of those trucks would do a whole lot better with some more weight over their rear tires. :p

Yeah, at 1:29 when the truck rolls you can see a camera man back up and trip haha......well it made me laugh anyways :P.....

What's up with the blue/white smoke at 5:20-5:45?

That's pretty neat, I never heard of them big trucks off roading.

Just found this:

I wonder if this guy has a pyrometer? That poor engine's gotta be about cookin'.

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Funny I read this now. I was just oogling these three video's of Ural trucks doing some real work...

I think the first two are of Ural 4320 trucks

I think the last one is a Zil truck

If your interested in importing one of those things... http://www.vermont-unimog.com/

Some of those trucks do have turbo's in the 2nd video do they not? [i see your comment now the caveman]
3:06, 3:45, 4:09, 5:25 (and yes why the white smoke? water injection?), 5:50 SUPER loud turbo sound :P

this is sort of on topic? I was channel surfing and i stumbled across some monster trucks and did anyone else notice that the pumpkins on the front and back catch fire routinely?

Im SO surprised any engine really can handle a beating like that... running at WOT at SUPER high load like that... also, how do they connect the engine to the transmission of those multi drive axled things? the torque must be incredible. a clutch? of sorts?

I do a lot of wheeling*used to anyway* and the axles used are different than normal. Compared to a normal axle where the driveshaft would come in the middle of the pig, these the driveshafts are on top. They have a gear and run straight through to the next one. That is if they are like the 2.5 and 5 tons axles I have seen.

those trucks are little different than a semi or end dump in construction.

and like the man said, the pinion gear is on the middle of a shaft that goes right through, so there is an input and output flange on each shaft.

oh yeah, and they use clutches, the drivetrain is very similar to a pickup, just lots bigger
