WTB I need a working 020 quick
«

I got a guy that is selling an 86gti to the scrappers for 150 but I can have it if I can drive it away by next week. He dropped the car from 5th to 2nd somehow and the tranny blew. He doesn't want to mess with it anymore, and all I need is a new 020 tranny "well.... new to me" by next weekend. Anyone care to donate one that they have sitting around? or have a working one for cheap? just need it for the car to move, and I was going to give it to a Marine friend of mine in dire need of a running vehicle.
thanks,
Kevin

you know, decarbonated beer is a better coolant than the stuff you buy at the auto store, and is better for you...... really

Not yet, but The engine started and ran great before. I haven't seen the car, but he says that there is a good sized hole in the engine. Upon further questioning there is no hole in the engine, but a good sized one in the bottom of the tranny. I need the tranny to swap out to see if it runs still. If the engine won't start then I won't even bother with it. I already have 7 cars one more just will add insult to injury. Besides, this is for a needy friend, I need to verify that I am giving him a reliable pos not an unreliable one

Indio is by no means close for me
, but I will likely give it a shot. Thanks for the locale, I was unaware that Indio had a vw shop.
I'll check fleabay, but I was kinda on the hope that someone had one in their garage collecting dust that needed a good home.
thanks guys,
Kevin

i dont think he grenaded the tranny from dropping it from fifth to second. i do that damn near every day. and my trans is fine. one of the drive rivets probably let go.
not like it helps you, but i have a PILE of working 020 transmissions.
