FS/FT 1979 German Diesel Daily Driver
« on: April 10, 2010, 08:09:10 pm »
This car is my daily. Its been very good and is very reliable. Ive driven it for a solid year and a half without any major problems.

engine: (10k miles since work was done)

70k mile 1.6 hydro bottom end from mk2

rebuilt solid lifter head.

all new seals

new headgasket

re done injection pump

new timing belt and tensioner

new water pump

new HD motor mounts

basically everything new

Trans:

low mile "4S" from mk2 eco diesel.... nice looong gearing.. I can cruise at 85 no problem..

new clutch

new throw out bearing

rebuilt shift linkage

body:

last month I had a run in with an suv. long story, but ended up peeling the front bumper off, and dinging up the front drivers side fender. I was planning on fixing it before putting it up for sale, but I just bought a new daily, and I need to get rid of this thing.

krylon paint job

interior:

NICE reupholstered mk2 16v gti seats, early 'rocco steering wheel. nice door cards, decent carpet/headliner, and just like the rest of them, a cracked dash...

Wheels: konig rewinds 15x7 %70 tread left on 3, and the fourth is brand new. ( have some road debris to thank for that)

Suspension: nuespeed sports all the way around, KYB rears, BRAND NEW ( only on the car three weeks) Bilstien HDs in the front.

Brakes:' 'rocco 10.1 with drilled/slotted rotors (Pads changed when I did the struts) rear: brand new oem and new wheel bearings

clean title in hand, registered till oct '10

Brand new battery.

The electrical isnt great. all of the essentials (lights, glowplugs, rad fan, etc. are re-wired)

ok, on to the pics...

Pics taken today:

ding :(  :

I also have many parts that come with it. including a nearly complete turbo setup for it:

(turbo oil pan not pictured)
Also, NIB ARP headstuds ($140 worth)

theres lots more that can come with it if needed, including spare motors/trannys/IPs cabby dash swap... etc price adjusted accordingly..

anyways, thats plenty of pics an rant...

everyone knows that you dont ever get your money out of a car... this is no acceptation. I have ~3500 into this, and hours and hours of labor.

I am looking for $2500 for the car, or $2650 with turbo stuff included.

I'm surprised the isuzu driver's insurance company didn't total it out. Looks good aside from the munched corner! Are you looking to sell the arp studs separately and are they 11 or 12mm?
