Anyone else seen blown intake gaskets?
« on: March 28, 2010, 04:20:07 pm »
Just pulled apart my 1.6 TD because of 1 cylinder not firing when cold..   didnt find much wrong in the HG department except leakage between oil jacket and cylinder on the cylinder I suspected,,    But I started today to remove the intake manifold and low and behold cylinders #1 & #4 both had blow the intake gasket out.  It alsmost looks like the gasket itself cracked and seperated about 1/8".  I'm sure it was leaking boost.   dont think it would do much else as its a diesel though..

Anyone else ever come accross this prob?

Gotta say I'm not a big fan of these Victor Reinz gaskets...  I'll take felpro anyday.
