Need a 2003 Piston & Rod TDI
« on: March 22, 2010, 07:53:06 pm »
New to this forum.  I need help, I need #3 piston and rod.  Jetta droped a valve. Also need a another nozz;e.  I have ran older VW diesels for many years (81 to 84).  These newer engines can be expensive.  Where is the best place to buy a new cylinder head.  I have seen them on e bay for $610.00 from Bora parts.  Are they a good cylinder head.  Or where is there a good place to buy one.  HELP I miss my Jetta.

BoraParts/Aaron has a great reputation on the tdiclub.com.  He sells OEM quality parts.  Also another option is Frank06 on the same page.  He can repair almost any damaged head.  I can't recall his pricing but it's definitely less than a new one.

Because of the extremely critical nature of rod length on a high compression engine you'll need a rod that's specifically matched to the three you already have... which is why VW only sells 'em in matched sets of 4.   ;)

Frank06 keeps a large inventory and will sell you a single rod if you send him one of the existing ones so that he can match it perfectly for length.
