Turbo diesel Vanagon turbo oil drain
« on: March 21, 2010, 05:14:09 pm »
I think that the oil return for the turbo is bent so that the flow is minimized.
Which makes me belive its blowing oil in to the intake.
Does anyone have any pics of the what its supposed to look like or what has been to thiers.
Here is a couple of shots of mine. I took a two at what I think is the bottom line of engine.
Its seems as if the stock line would also be too low.
Is that how they are designed? Seems like the only way.

Well I found the oil consumpsion issue, and decided to go away with the stock turbo configuration. So now I have another project  :-\.
Upon checking the valve guide seals, as its easyer to do than hone job.  :D.
The #1 exhaust valve is really loose in the guide. The seal was still intack and soft. Also under each lifter was all kinds of crud, but just under the exhaust ones. The intakes were clean.  I'm suprised that the engine starts and runs at all,  :o.
So I decided it wasn't worth checking the rest of the guide seals.
I need a cylinder head for that fix.
As for the turbo setup, I'm using the AAZ 3 bolt ex. man. and the AHU gt15 turbo with an adaptor. You can see in the pics above that my K14 and evrything attached is a rusty lump.
