i would be highly surprised if you are going to get another 110 horsepower out of your 1.6 than what dave cross could get out of his. dave builds these things all day every day, for most of his life. if you can squeeze 3 bills out of a 1.6, i will bow down and call you master, and be your first follower.
i, myself, do not think you can squeeze 300 horsepower worth of fuel and air into one of these things without the head exiting through the hood. i dont think the blocks or heads can handle it. i know people even have a tough time getting to the 250 horse mark with a 1.9, im pretty sure that the general consensus is that the 1.6 can be built to around 200 horsepower, and the AAZ can be built to 250, but anything after that is no mans land.
find a foundry, get some money, and get them to cast you an iron head. then you will be able to run 80 psi boost, or atleast thats what ive heard. i think theres some guy in norway or sweden or something with a cast iron head and 80 psi, on a 1.6 engine.
not trying to say you arent capable of building this kev, just pointing out that these engines do have mechanical limits, and the head is definitely one of the weak links.
no one else can get those kind of power numbers out of a 4cyl vw diesel, so how are you going to do it?
i would still love to see it done, please... PROVE ME WRONG!
