1985 Jetta Diesel heater output
« on: March 06, 2010, 01:00:43 am »
I have a 1985 Jetta Diesel 1.6 n/a with a 5 speed and a/c. I just got the heater controls fixed where the fan blows with all 3 speeds. When I turn on the controls for heat, it barely comes out warm. I've flushed out heater cores before with some success and am wondering if these jettas generate enough heat. The a/c works great if that helps. From what I see, pulling the heater core is not one of the things I want to do.

These will make plenty of heat provided the t-stat is good and all.

This is the story of my victory over a bad lack of heat, http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=22559.0

Do some searches, I for one have wrote quite a bit about the issue ;D.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Thanks guys for the links and tips. Why is it they put something that's going to break behind everything so you have to take apart the car to get to the heater core?
