Clutch Upgrade
« on: February 18, 2010, 10:46:32 am »
I've fitted a blown 1y engine/box to my dad's mk1 caddy

what cheap/uprated clutch can i fit to hold with a mildly tuned engine?? the stock one now is slipping like a ***, either due to oil contamination or just wear (most probable as it's right at the top of the pedal!)

I'm running the Mk3 gearbox so i'm assuming i need the complete mk2 golf 16v setup?

I know i should have changed it whist the engine was out but that's too easy, lol!

Thanks!

Ryan

being at the end of the pedal could just be a mis-adjusted clutch cable. but if its slipping, i would change it out no matter what. and yea, an aba or 16v clutch kit will work just fine.

it's got a turbo too :) i might as well upgrade a little to make it worthwhile.

the clutch cable adjustment cant make the pedal any better.

I'll check a UK forum to see what those guy's fit

if you have a standard 020 trans (small 24 spline input shaft) and you want an uprated stock clutch, then you need an 8v clutch disk and 16v pressure plate. if you have a large spline 16v/mk3 020, then you can just use a straight 16v clutch setup.
