« on: February 28, 2010, 12:10:14 pm »
WVWZZZ16ZBW646794 is the vin on the rain tray of my 81 Jetta.

W- Germany
V- Volkswagen
W- Passenger Car
Z- 1983-92 3 door Camper
Z- not an option
Z- not an option
16- 1983-88 Jetta
Z- Manufacturer code
B- 1981 model year
W- Wolfsburg

646,794th to roll of the line in '81 ;)

Why does my VIN not show the Body Style, Restraints, or Engine!?

I could register this car with any engine I want to now, the vin doesn't show what its supposed to have.. Why is this?

Maybe they made some of the cars and then randomly threw whatever engine into 'em :D

I've looked mine up and it said everthing about it so I don't know why your's is different....... :-\
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.
