cleaning head with pre cups installed
« on: February 22, 2010, 07:22:49 pm »
So to keep the precup thread trend going, I've got a stripped AAZ head that i want to have cleaned.  The place that is hot tanking my block says they've got an aluminum hot tank setup as well.  I'll likely bring it to them tomorrow but the precups are still installed.  Can I have it hot tanked with them in?

i dont see why not. inconel is way tougher than the aluminum. something will happen to the aluminum head casting first.

I used a media blaster on the whole head and got it sparkling clean, even the mating surface, took some zippy wheels to it afterwards, just look at the pictures.

you know, decarbonated beer is a better coolant than the stuff you buy at the auto store, and is better for you...... really

ya, media blasting was my other plan but for $30 i figured I'd just hot tank the damn thing.  I was just worried they would fall out or something.  Guess we'll see tomorrow :)

fall out? not a chance, unless they are getting it like 8 or 900 degrees...
