Radio Problems

I have a 97 Jetta TD with the factory Radio/cassetteplayer.

This AM when I left for work The radio was dead; no sound, LCD display was blank.
Anyone familiar with this problem?
I'm going thru the Bentley but it doesn't appear to offer a lot in the way of help in this regard.

Other than checking fuses/ wiring I'm not sure what else to do.
Hate to 'have' to put a new one in'...

????

Check that you're getting accessory power off the ignition switch.
Check that you have a good ground to the radio.

Had power to the radio 'cause the lights for the buttons were still on. Pulled the radio out, the 10a fuse was blown. Put a new fuse in, re-installed the radio. When I was entering the code the fuse blew again.

WTF is going on here???

This radio hasn't give me any trouble in all the time I've owned the car to this point & I havn't changed or touched any thing on the dash, intruments, controls etc.

Why is there a fuse on the back of the radio?

Anyone have any ideas?

BJ
