3 small bolts...
« on: February 21, 2010, 05:02:37 am »
OK.  Well.  I somehow managed to misplace the 3 small bolts that bolt the flexplate / flywheel cover to the transmission.  Thing is, an M6 is too small and an M8 is too big.  Anyone know the specs on these bolts?

I hope I've explained which bolts these are well enough - there are the large trans to engine block bolts, the 2 starter / trans / engine bolts, and then these 3 little ones.  If it matters, the trans code is FF.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I've always thought them were supposed to be missing..........
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

M7.  I was afraid of that.  They look like they are M7 x 16.  Anyone know where I can get 3 of them?  I already searched for M7 bolts online and there is not much out there.

Do the gasser transmissions use the same bolts?  Guess I could scrounge the junkyards...

Same thread as the speedo gear bolt right?

I think the later oil pans use them.
I'm not sure when they switched from 6m1, maybe '85,
but I'm pretty sure I've seen oil pan bolts that wouldn't work with older engines.

I've just looked at my 'KATE', those M7 bolts were there from the 1970's On the golfs they are on the g/b endplates and gearchange indicators, and the flywheel cover. On Quantums they are on the 4 speed gearboxes only it seems... Never on sump covers though ;D
