Blowing from top vent
« on: November 16, 2005, 03:54:01 am »
I gonna pull my 1.9 in the coming days to swap the flywheel and 02A gearbox, with the engine out I want to check some other small problems while the engine is out.

When I pull the ventvalve off the valvecover I see some smoke, some pressure and a lot of small oildroplets. Out of the lower vent out the side of the engine there is noticable less/no blow and no oil or smoke.

What could be causing this blowing out the top?

Could the blowing from the top be caused by plugged oilreturnlines?

I'm going to take the valvecover off tomorrow and try to poke in the holes, do the returnlines run straight down through the head and engine?

Got the engine out today:

I tore the engine apart already, no oillinesreutbr were plugged so it must be the pistonrings...

My head was even cracked to the prechamber inserts...  :?:

Your cylinder walls are pretty glazed.  You need to measure the bores and either hone and re-ring or get them bored.

Yep.. I stripped the engine completely now so it is going to the machineshop tomorrow for some measurementing to determine if the bores are still round. Honing, reringing and new bearings were already on my list.
