I will relocating the battery to behind the passenger seat, I will have to have some custom cables made, I search several websites, and it seems most of the shops also do welding cables also
Going with side mount post on the Optima
Gee-Bee
I paid like $45 for the supercrank I have now, it's going on 4 years and I can tell on a cold day that it's seen better days.
Will size 34 fit? Or too tall?
The only issues I have with the EVERSTART MAXX is the stock cable length, but on the last rabbit I went to 1/0 and longer...no issues.
I don't have any personal experience with this, but I've heard Odyssey batteries are excellent. I have a diesel-nut friend who methodically researches every aspect of every component, and he says they're the best. I believe that they're rebranded as "Diehard Platinum" as well? They're considered a dry cell battery because of their construction, and can be mounted in practically any orientation. They have excellent CCA, cold weather, and deep cycle capacity. There's a datasheet somewhere on the internet for them if you want the details. Anyway, this is just something I heard. I plan on using one in my Audi when the time comes.
my brother works for a big battery company. he says that lithium batteries are good, but the recycling part is the real killer. apparently theres a lead acid battery in the works to compete with lithium. the battery contains a multiple of capacitors to lessen the stress on the battery. lithium batteries have no problems with high spike loads, but lead acid do.
i bet with a big 1 farad cap (install a toggle switch and a gauge so you know when its topped off) it would be a piece of cake starting in real cold. the cap could charge up while the glow plugs do their thing too...
then you don't need such huge batteries, although they are a good idea..!
Well I just bought a size 41 interstate, 650cca. I wanted bigger but I couldn't find a size 34 with the terminals on the right side. I was getting desparate, 20F here lately so I don't plug in and it still cranks slow, 0F is supposed to be pretty easy.
I have a hugge battery in mine

It used to start a 6.9 IH, so I figured it was good for my 1.6

No clue on the CCA though

but it doesn't fit properly, as can be told by the zip ties holding it in (temporary) lol
