Non VW seats for a Caddy
« on: February 12, 2010, 02:28:10 am »
Has anyone been able to install non VW seats in a Caddy? Good mk 1 seats are hard to find, some guy on CL here was advertising a rabbit convertible with Mercury Contour seats. Anyone know of any cars that have seats that will go into my Caddy without welding/mods?
Look, if corn and kudzu fall in love and have a baby in a lab under the supervision of scientists working in my employ, WHO AM I TO STOP THAT other than the CEO responsible for stopping it???

most (but no all, happened to me so I know  ;D) Recaros will fit if you buy a Recaro seatbase for a golf mk1

and I imagine that unless it comes from a vw all other seats will need some kind of base modification

im 6'7", and definitely wider than a normal person, and i have no problem. i can see that if you were bigger, the bolsters would be bothersome.

6-7 Wow does the seat go back that far?  If you ever get a Caddy I know a guy that will stretch it. You need to kill a 2 door rabbit to do it though.

already had the idea, thats the only way i will own a caddy. my grandpa has one, and i have driven it one time, long enough to figure out that theres no way i fit in a stock caddy. i was either thinking of a long 2 door caddy, or a crew bus 4 door caddy. either one would be cool. along with some 4x4.

but yes, the seat in a 2 door rabbit/golf goes back far enough for me to have plenty of head/leg room, but the back seat on my side is useless, i do not move my seat forward for anyone.

I love my recaros and I have the matching rear seats also. I put them in because my parents hate them and won't get in my car ::)

I'm looking at a set of NOS SAAB seats. Apparently they are a good fit too, anybody have any input?

toyota pickup seats fit very well. took me about 20 minutes to build brackets to mount them.
