Wow so i was right about making your own armatures... i have the worst memory out of anyone i know... this is a big day for me.
but im pretty confident you can run an audi quattro.
Or maybe even AWD out of a subaru (but you would have to turn the engine + make motor mounts ect. possibly some sort of adapter plate and such parts to join the output of the clutch to the trans)
Dillinger1 did this on a 4-runner and a 1.6td. anyone else remember that?

toyota pickup w/ a 1.6td bolted to a 4 cyl W56 transmission all in a V6 frame.
its gonna be done again in the near (this year) future, but with a semi-built 5 cyl mated to a V6 trans in a 4runner.
Hmm. I can sympathise, my favorite would be a Mk2 Golf Synchro with TDi power. But looking at the Synchro's in the scrapyard here, unique gearbox with the propshaft, silicone filled limited slip thingy which will need servicing by now, unique everything at the back end, totally different boot floor, different suspension mounts, arrgh! It's bit of a job.
