"backfire" on launch, other issues
« on: February 04, 2010, 08:35:41 am »
Even after my bus is warm, sometimes when I take off from a stop (especially right after it has run hard or fast) I hear a muffled pop and an extra cloud of smoke comes out.  I suspect that one of my dodgy injectors is leaking.  Sometimes it misfires on first accel. from a stop.
Also, I also have lots of whitish blue smoke on startup, with rough running for the first 10-20 seconds (it fires right away, just runs rough with lots of smoke).  There are no big bubbles in the fuel line.  Additionally, on startup (idle or light pedal) it speeds up and slows down a hundred rpm or so in a sine wave.
Once it is running warmed up, it is starting to surge very lightly going downhill on the highway, sort of like it did with a bad head gasket but there is no vapor in the cooling system now (I replaced the gasket last month).
I probably have multiple problems going on, but could you help me get started toward making it a happy runner?
