1.9 IDI, TDC - Question.

Just finished installing my rebuilt Giles pump after having some timing issues. My flywheel has two TDC timing marks. Oddly I can get the pump to run on both? Does anybody have any idea as to which one I should be using??

From what I remember about the two marks is that one is a 6deg. before TDC and the other is the 0 for TDC. The 6deg. has a diamond shape notch, the 0 is dot.

nope.  the diamond is the tdc and the 0 is the 6dbtdc

I think it depends on the style of flywheel you have. Most diesels have a diamond at TDC, although I have also seen a 0. Thumbs up for Germans.

Well if your looking at a flywheel that has two timing marks, then 0 would have to be TDC. If you still can't find a true TDC mark, the make a degree wheel of some sort a find it that way, I'm sure theres other ways of finding TDC .

then why does the dimple (or 0) arrive before the diamond?
