got this w/p pulley, how do i know if is working, is there a way to test it , very littel resistance turning ether way by hand. And what the deal on a clutched pully, heard of them the alt. but not the w/p.
I seriously doubt that is a clutched pulley. I would assume it's an idler pulley combined with the actual water pump pulley.
this is a pic of the pulley (I hope pic is pasted, will try again if not), I can spin the outer part separate from the inner part , may be it is not clutched and just not pressed together properly? i am not familar with it.
That looks like a 1.6 alternator/Wp setup.
yes it is a pully off a 1.6 t/d apx 1992, just looking to find out if is still good? not much resistance in turning it both ways. how can i tell or test it , what do i look for??
They make noise when the bearing goes bad. Its a idler pully for AC, and for PWR. steering.
The two belts spin at different ratio's, so one free wheels.
Aha.... so in the picture the OP must be missing a belt that would normally go to powersteering and A/C.... makes sense now.
yes that all make sense now , thanks for the rply/ info . sometimes working from a box-o-parts makes things a bit difficult.
