Best nozzles for a 12 mm pump head (1.9 mTDI/AHU)
« on: January 23, 2010, 08:12:17 am »

Hi,

I'm looking for a reliable - stage 1-2* - config. for an mTDI setup based on a AHU engine with a ported head, an AAZ turbo (K14) and a stock camshaft. I already have 0.216 (DSLA150P502) nozzles from dieselkontor.de, but this combination might stress the head of the pump (guessed: Peugeot Boxer HDI camplate) because of too small nozzles, won't it?

Any thought/comments/etc would be most welcomed - thanks!

---
*I'm better change nozzles than turn the pump back to the 10 mm head plus I already have the 12 mm head inside the pump

I've run PowerPlus 520 and 764 with 12mm heads for long term, no problems.

What size bosio nozzle would compare to the dss230? I've heard positive reviews on the dss units but they seem very hard to source.

Can you explain in detail why you think the 12mm head is too big? Its been done quite already without any major issues so i'm curious to hear your reasoning.

because 11mm to 4500tr/mn no problem ,the 12mm it's not good

my english it bad :-[
her risk of gripping a head is very present, without speaking about rolls which takes a blow.
you cannot take so much rpm.
i see many 12mm broke or if don't broke the cameplate and roolls is very used
cross a certain temperature diesel does not lubricate any more and with 12mm the diesel temperatur is more high...

with my 11mm i take 4500rpm and mor

a 11mm is good too 200hp.i

if you want take a 12mm ,you must be use a fuel cooler ...

dss230 is a ,230µm nozzle

i dont know size of bosio

Some argue that a bigger head does not necessarily mean more revs but rather a better injection quality ... and I definitely can not understand why 12 mm would be too high with the right equipement around. My pump came from almost right the same engine but ... yes: it should be less reliable than a 11 mm headed pump.

Also, yes: I had to change the rolls on my pump and I fear the head breaks because of too small nozzles - in spite DSS claims 0.216 would be OK - in the archives of the french section.

For the comparison between Bosios and DSS, I can not remember where I could read something on the subject - here possibly. The fact is there is some data available about Bosio's nozzle sizes but I can not figure what DSS stage 1, 2 or 3 correspond to - in terms of sizes? Example given: which one is the 0.230?

Certainly I should contact DSS directly, or maybe someone wants to exchange my 12 mm head with his 11 mm?

Anyone ever having/had any experience with Dieselkontor's OIL&POWER Special DSLA Race ... 0.225, 0.240 - or so?

the 12mm imposes more pressure of part its weight his effort on the strap of distribution as well as as rolls

and it augments the temperature of diesel

jai put down therefore a filter with diesel of the first ones golf2 and I run with of l 'huile 2 time 100%synthèse (25 in 50cl by full

the dss basic is 0,220 nozzle the stage 1 0,230 nozzle stage 2 0,240 stage 3 0,250 dss ultime 0,260 dss ultime 2?i think is  0,275 nozzle

i'm à dss dealer i have paypal...

in yours tdi m à 11mm whit à 0,230 nozzle is so good

if you whant i have many 11mm original bosch

The pump head size should go hand in hand with nozzle size. I have been running 12mm pump head on my 2.5TDI 5cyl with R520 (5-hole) for years. No problems with 5500rpm and 350bhp/750Nm.

With my ongoing compound build with this engine I'm going to use DSS nozzles (ultime 2) and power target is ~450bhp @6000rpm. Still using my 12mm pump... ;)

Keeping your fuel cool and using a little good quality 2-stroke oil helps.

True. That means 4 cyl should do 6875rpm without pump head lifting problem (5500/4x5=6875). :)

If my predictions are correct 450bhp in a 5 cyl may be possible and that means atleast 360bhp on a 4 cyl with 12mm head. This means a lot of modifications to the pump though and will create much more stress to it.

No 14mm head for 5 cyl unfourtunately. Even my 12mm head is custom made for my van and today these 12mm 5 cyl heads are available from Germany.

Got 99cc max injection with the current 12mm head (R520 nozzles) and that gave me ~370bhp. With serious pump mods I'm aiming for 125cc @6000rpm (Ultime 2 nozzles) which should be enough for ~450bhp. My hp numbers will be depending on the fuel delivery as air mods should be enough for 500+bhp. Maybe it is a success, maybe not... :)

Interesting comments in another thread about a minimum nozzle size vs. pump head. Too small a nozzle & the resulting back pressure could lead to issues...

Sounds like this is just what I was looking for. A link maybe? I did a search for "minimum nozzle size vs. pump head" and nothing came out - but this one.

Note: inj.refs 520 seem to correspond to different sizes whether they came from Bosch or Bosio (eg: Power+) ...
