Is there some place that sells aluminum/metal instead of the hateful plastic ones at the front & side of the head? The plastic ones seem to leak after out 6 months. I snagged one off ebay, but if there is a good source I would like to buy more for my other car?
older cars. rabbits, dashers, sciroccos. OLD
they have different styles of water necks too.
Also some 8V gasser mk2s, at least up until MY '88.
EDIT: BTW, will the coolant temp sensors on the front flange have the same spec as the ones that go with the plastic flange? In other words, will your temp gauge and glow plug control work funny if you replace sensors that fit the plastic flange, with sensors that fit the alloy flange?
My 1.6 TD had one on the head, that I used in my gasser 16v, the large coolant hole is a slightly different position, but since it's metal it seals fine. I had a correct plastic one before this that leaked constantly.
I really don't have an issue with the coolant sensor as the 96 golf a newly rebuilt 1.6 is going into was a gasser, so it will have a custom glow plug setup. I've seen newer coolant flanges for a TDI that took sensors that looked like the round ones MK2 used. I don't know if the coolant flange would fit an older car?
I have a customer that would make them probably in 100 per shot if we would set up a group buy. After the first 100 or so I bet we could get less of them. He casts aluminum every day and is pretty good at it. I was thinking about the Tstat thing as well. If each of us would only buy 10
. If there is interest let me know as I can take samples to him for quotes.
Cheaper to machine one than to make a sand cast mold.
Talk to nick at Street Toys, iam sure he will do some for you .

I don't know about that. My machine shop wants 100/hour weather he makes toilet flushing handles or aircraft turbine blades. Plus billet alum is usually more expensive than cast. I think I may check it out.
