I too agree that you should keep the gold.  One more consideration would be to not strip the original paint down to bare metal.  VW was never very good about galvanizing back in the day, and stripping down to bare metal might remove the only galvanizing that car has.

yeah i was definitely thinking of only taking the clear off. More than likely keeping it gold :)

it is most certainly growing on me. lol
