I have never tried to adjust the fast idle on my cold start lever. At present it doesn't kick the idle up at all when it is pulled. What do I do to make it idle faster when it is pulled out?
Also, do I need to loosen the injector lines at the pump when changing the timing?
Thanks
Thanks Andrew, I'll make sure to loosen them all even for small adjustments.
No, the stock vanagon pump is on a shelf. I have a mk II (I think) pump out of an '86 jetta, with the pushrod and spring thingy on the side. Just don't know how to adjust it.
On the top of the pump near the rod there are 2 10mm nuts locking studs into the housing. Have a look at both of them and see which way the lever is trying to move when you pull the cold start out. It will be hitting one of those studs. Back it off until you have the fast idle where you want it.

Or if you can post a picture of the back of the pump ('cause there's lots of different variations) we can photoshop it for you... but Tyler's description will probably do the trick as well.
I'm still kind of picture challenged regarding the innernets, but thanks for the offer Vincent.

Thanks Tyler for the description, I understand that and should be able to make it work for me.
I hope it helps. There is a FAQ on posting pictures in the FAQ section.
