cylinder head casting numbers

Hello, wondering if anyone could shed some light on this situation:  I've found a head for my 1.6TD Jetta, quite cheap ($210 rebuilt) but there is a problem with the casting number.  My head is 068 103 373 D and the head I have found is a 373 F.  I am wondering if anyone knows what these numbers mean and which casting numbers can be substituted for which ones?
