K24 oil drain flange size?
« on: January 10, 2010, 06:23:44 am »
So I'm trying to track down a oil drain for my K24 and realize the OEM ones are pretty much NLA and used ones tend to leak, and I saw the ones that prothe has but, i'll be dammed if i'll deal with that crook. So my last option is to just build one but, I'm having troubles locating the flange part that connects to the turbo. All the ones I'm finding are for K26, K14, T3...etc.  Silly question but would one of those be the same size?

I looked through this thread but nobody said anything about the flanges.  http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=19623.0

Thanks for any help.  :)

Some turbo models have a hard line tube that connects to a female fitting, others T3 larger adapter and Ko3/ko4 have a smaller adapter ( two bolt to a banjo fitting )

I have a new KO4/KO3 hybrid, same as KO3 and i did a adapter flare ( ebay ) to a teflon Aircraft hose assy to a Tomkin adapter as noted above.

There are two different sizes of adapters for the return line( turbo mount )

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

This is the style I am looking for. (from prothe's website non the less)

I measured the area on the turbo where the flange meets and the flange has it's bolt centers 50mm apart.  I found one on ebay that gave measurements of 37.5.  Which is why I'm asking if someone has already knows if one from another KKK turbo or other would work.

Yes that is the larger adapter than the KO3 style turbo adapter, I would go with that adapter listed above ( it will work )and make up a dash -8 AN Spec  hose assy and change the fitting on the block..

I had a custom flange made for both ends. Converted to a common AN fitting. I would recommend doing this and ending the leaking and weird size problems once and for all.

the stock T3 vw drain line fits on a K24. same flange.

The golden question is now. Is that flange the same as all other non-vw T3's?  I'm going assume yes. But I would still to hear someone buying a aftermarket flange and putting it on a K24.

Guess I'll dig around one the internet more and see if i can find flange sizes.
