Well I got the Caddy on the road with the 1.6 Turbo. 4000 miles so far. There is no comparison to the other 5 or so Diesel Rabbits I have owned or the 300TD Mercedes or the current Volvo 245 D24. the only mods (if you can call them that) are a 2.25 exhaust, and a K&N air filter. I has the little KKK turbo which I like because is spools very fast. I was thinking an intercooler could wait till spring since the air is pretty cold anyway right now. Im thinkin next that I might get a boost and EGT guage so I can actually turn up the boost to see what happens. Got some black smoke right now so I thought turning up the boost might turn that into some power. I own and operate a small import garage/parts store in Clarksville TN. so I am pretty hooked up for parts, and tools. I have found this forum to be invaluable for normally hard to find info to modify these engines. As soon as I get the Volvo boosted I plan to pull my Caddy engine back out to paint my engine bay, so I thought I might go ahead, and tear down the 1.6 to freshen up things, bearings, rings, head studs and such. Now that I know it can be done on the cheap I want more power. Anyway. Thanks for a great community here, and if I can help anyone out let me know. Got 30 plus years of stuff around here for VW diesels, old beetles, and almost anything German. Also have lots of reference material. Gotta move the store soon and junk metal was $150 per ton here as of yesterday so sadly most has to go. Sent a Saab to the great beyond yesterday full of brake rotors, and other junk parts. Gonna start filling up a 735i BMW today.
