Pretty frustrating, but it will get fixed. Does the play in the shaft also allow you to lift upwards? It does seem strange that it only took 60 miles to wear that far. If however the bearing is slack all round , then belt tension is not the issue. A correctly tensioned belt may rely on the strength of the seal itself for a few miles before leaking... Perhaps
