Boost question on 1.9TD
« on: October 18, 2005, 07:03:05 am »
How can i go about turning the boost up more than 13psi? I am at the end of the actuator rod but i am looking to run 15-16psi. Any ideas or info on how to get more boost.

Apart from changing the actuator.

Craig

More fuel... more fuel results in more exhaustgasses that will spin the turbo :)

But beware of high exhaust temps and the stock turbo can't take much abuse (mine failed in a few weeks @1.2bar)

Depending on your wastegate spring (they can vary a bit) you might also need to run a bleed or a "dawes device" type of boost controller to get the boost higher than stock.

On my small turbo I disconnected the line to the wastegate to keep it shut, it ran 1.2bar max with some extra fuel.

Thanks for the replies!
Just serviced the Passat and ran some 10K Boost through it. Loads of smoke (build up ) and it feels smoother than before.
