Can i Re-scale a mk3 TDI cluster Gauge?
« on: December 20, 2009, 08:57:12 am »
I am trying to place the electronic parts of my tdi cluster into my '80 rabbit old cluster to make something like an hybrid.

How can i re-scale the rpm gaugeto make more space to fit the temp and fuel in the same gauge?

Is it possible to program the cluster?

I have read that if i put a gasser tacho on my tdi that the needles would work normally so it would probably solve my problem by reducing the scale used by the tdi with a smaller rpm range.

For parts i have the tdi cluster 220km/h and 4750 rpm redline
GTI cluster 220km/h and 6200 rpm redline

and without MFA another cluster up to 200km/h

to look like tis lupo cluster

Thanks!

That's a cool idea for preserving the 2-hole design.  Are the temp and fuel gauges too large to work with as-is?
I'm about to dive into fitting the tdi cluster to mk1 dash as well.  I may end up just butchering the stock dash and leaving the tdi intact.

Yes i really like the 2 hole design. Temp and fuel gauges motors are bigger than tacho and speedo, it will be a tight fit. The hard part is to make a PCB to fit the two lcd's and then solder the wires to the tdi original PCB.

People ussually take the easy way, just fitting the tdi cluster. Doesn't look bad but doesn't look stock either.
