trouble starting with my new 5 pot
« on: December 20, 2009, 01:54:43 am »
after its been sat for a while it realy strugles to start, went for a meal, came out and it killed the battery after a few minits of turning and had to get my mates to push it

also noticed that it runs out of puff about 3.5k and doesnt feel as powerfull as it shud be

any ideas, i was thinking air leak, but not sure, might just change the pump anyway, its done 265k

i havent realy got deep yet, is pretty lumpy wen it does finaly catch, and makes alot of black smoke, just been running on diesel so far

i would say timing is unlightly to be wrong, anyone know what these are timed to, cant hurt to try?

my old 1.6 caddy had trouble starting at 1mm i got it to start up better just by twisting the pump to where it sounded best, made a massive difference

im gona change the filter and go leak hunting, i think thats the best course of action

That era Audis have had problems with immobilizer. There is some kind of coil in ignition lock that recognise the key. Tdiclub might have better information of that.

i realy like them, theres more to them than most cars wich meens theres more to go wrong but i just realy like all the bells and whistles, just feels good after being in a cold unreliable caddy for the last few years. ive been buying and selling a few of the new ones recently and it seems that the older ones are much better built, im in love with the 5 pot

i heard sumthin about the ignition barrel being a common fault ill try another one
