Sudden loss of power + stall
« on: December 18, 2009, 09:09:28 am »
Hi guys, one of my friend from another forum told me to post my problem here since his knowledge on tdi is limited.

So yesterday night while i was running on the highway my engine started to stutter and then started to lose power. So i poped the clutch and the engine stalled. I tried a couple time to restart it but with no luck (engine cranks but doesnt fire).

A couple hour before that happened i was a the gas station and i smelled a strong burned odor (like a capacitor that have blown) but i tought that it was another car around mine so i didn't mind. And the same smell is coming back when i crank the engine.

Thanks for your help.

oh i forgot, it's a 2001 jetta tdi. MAF has been changed not too long ago, timing belt about 5k ago. The oil and coolant seems all good and i can see the diesel move in the transparent pipe that get out of the fuel filter

Lame question but are you sure you put diesel in it?

haha unless they've put gasoline in the diesel tank at the irving, i'm 100% sure it's diesel :P

on another note, i found out that there's a cel that have poped and it's (p1248). did some research and it might be because of the fuel filter that is clogged. so i'll try to change it as soon it's not to cold outside and add some diesel additive to the gas too. Only thing is the weird smell... i cant figure out where it could come of.

any clue where this would be "Wiring/Connectors from/to Injection Valve (N108) faulty" ?

My suggestion would be to head on over to www.tdiclub.com.... all TDI stuff, all day long, and if you search for "N108" you'll likely find a ton of info.

That's funny because I sent him here from another forum.

haha well hopefuly someone will know what's wrong.  there's 2 other fault code that poped, p1563 and p1354.

if it wouldn't be of the weird smell i'de say it's just my injector pump that failed...

ok just a little update for future reference, i finaly got the car repaired. the probleme was not the pump, it was a little wire on the pump connector that was broken but not noticable since it was still in its socket. So a solder later and it was running like a charm.
