Fuel drains back after sitting, New fit install electric pump
« on: December 12, 2009, 08:07:54 pm »
my 96 Jetta,  1.9 Diesel   lost it fuel pressure from tank when it became cold out.

I had ordered the valve in the tank  1 week ago from dealer, no in yet, along with the control valve on the top of the fuel filter at the same time.

I read a few different topics  and shopped today for a 12 volt electric pump

Napa  Huge cylinder pump with filters at both end (NO) for me
Few other jobber parts stores smaller but to big to the space in the engine compartment.

Stopped at the John Deere dealer. BINGO  perfect size of pump.  In stock used on all combines since mid 70's

Part # AH130127  $ 108.75  Pump
         R65785      $ 5.12  fitting (x2)  1/4"

a toggle switch on/off & dash mount plastic holder & inline fuse holder (Peavy mart) $ 4.49

bulk 1/4" fuel hose & clamps  $ 5.00

little wire from battery to the A/C line going into the cabin from the engine compartment

grounded that pump to the body bolt above the A/C lines, tie strap the pump on top the A/C (black plastic)
ran the fuel line back and against the fire wall, new line from pump to filter.

Installled switch to driver fender next to the washer tank ( one sheet metal screw & drill & bit)

check fluids  and throw the switch & start unit.  throw switch off and drive.

photos to follow.

thanks for the great tip,   next to install glow plugs ( ordered the rail & purchased O.E.M plugs)
