Mystery Mtdi pump
«

I recently acquired an Mtdi injection pump which I know very little about. I wanted to see if anyone here could recognize any parts of it. The previous owner told me it was built by a Skoda engineer in the Czech Republic who puts together Mtdi pumps in his spare time. He did not remember any specs on the pump, but said that this builder had a good reputation and was told that the pump could "support 300hp with enough air". I can not find any part numbers on the main pump body. Any thoughts?

Looks legit from the outside....but of course that doesn't say anything. Hook that baby up and let us know how she works!!
If it pumps as good as he says, then see if you can get more!! It appears to have a 20mm shaft, so that's a good ingredient. Do you have a car you can test it on?

It is in a suzuki samurai with an AHU, all I know right now is that the pump will at least let the engine start and idle. Unfortunately this seems to be a one time deal, without any more available that I know of. Is there any way to confirm that it has the 20mm main shaft without opening up the pump? Measure the diameter of the shaft where it comes out of the pump? I will see if I can get some more work on the samurai done this weekend, maybe I can get a better idea of how the pump runs.

You should be able to measure it right next to the seal....any farther out and it starts to taper obviously.
So it will idle but not rev higher? Whats the deal....or is there something else preventing you from revving the motor? As far as how it actually performs you'll need to take it out and drive it, to put a load on it. You wont be able to tell much from revving it up in the garage.
I'm definitely not a M-TDI expert.....there's folks on this forum that seem to know plenty about the intricacies of these pumps.... now M-TDI pumps are showing up ranging from "homegrowns" to professionally built units (from very reputable shops) to factory Euro pumps. I'd love to get my hands on one that is known to actually perform as good or better than a E-TDI to see what's inside.
But a few things I've gathered just from reading, not personal experience is that these pumps should have the 20mm shaft if possible, due to higher pumping stresses from TDI's using higher psi's, and more dynamic advance capabilities, overall higher fueling capabilities, and a proper camplate and pump head. There's lots more, and if you scroll through the FAQ you'll find a section on M-TDI pumps.
I'm putting a AHU in my Vanagon and cant decide if I want to go E or M TDI. They both have their virtues.
I would be interested to see how your pump performs though.

Only thing preventing me from revving the engine is that I have no cooling system. I just wanted to do a quick start up to confirm that the pump worked. I will try to get the cooling system together and other things buttoned up so I can give it a more thorough test this weekend.

Looks a lot like one of the factory LT 2.8 pumps to me. Why no numbers, did someone grind em off?

Looks like a early Renault master as it has no egr electrics ?if it is 12mm head that would be my guess if it is 11mm then i would guess Iveco other than that it could be one off many Fiat Renault Alfa Romeo Lancia Ford all done mtdi engines
