Just collected a load of bits and bats, old injection pumps etc and nestling amongst the scrap is a K26 if anyone is feeling brave!
No idea what state it's in, it's been left open and full of spiders but still turning and bearings don't seem shot, no play in shaft.
It's here for the taking if anyone is interested in it, bloke who it came from said it was from a MAN truck.
Actuator looks like it has seen better days but hey..

Do you have pics, preferably next to a K24/T3?

If the exhaustturbine is much larger than the K24 you'll get a lot of lag, especially on a 1.6TD.

I put a K26 on my LandCruiser 4 cly diesel, and it has worked out great for me.
But bear in mind that it's a 3400cc four  :lol:

k26's are WAY to big for 1.6L's... trust me. you need a big shot of N2O to make it driveable in a drag. Street driving... no way.

Yes... there was a guy that had twin turbo's on a rabbit on the "old board" ( I think).  I have a pic somewhere.  It had all kinds of piping sticking out of the hood... a la Mad Max.  

Perhaps some of the early members will have more info...

Did you know that 87-88 1.6TD (maybe not all models though) had a k26?

I have a compound setup on my AAZ,(k14,hx30).I've had that setup working for a couple months on 32 psi :twisted:  and I'm currently working on a K24,k14 Hybrid right now.The K14 is a little too small and restrictive making my Backpressure/Egt's Unsustainable,Great for short bursts though.So I'm using a k24 turbine with the K14 compressor,lots of modyfing to do as well as other mods to this custom homemade Hybrid 8)

The Audi 5000 turbo had the K26 as well.  The later (85+ I believe) had a water-cooled center section, but the early ones were oil-cooled only.  Possibly a cheap source for experimentation...  

FWIW, the K26 was fitted to a 2.1/2.2 liter 5-cyl and did have a bit of lag.  If I remember right, boost came on at about 3000-3200 rpm.  I built one of these engines and put a K24 (from a later 20V 5-cyl) on it to improve low end power and reduce lag.  Not as much umph on the top end, but the usable power for everyday driving was much better.  I haven't seen anyone running a K26 on the 4-cyl diesel, but I'd guess that the K24 is probably more suitable for the rpm range.

I was at the shop when a guy was dynoing his Rabbit.
It had a 2L 8v (ABA) gas engine with a k26 and the Audi intercooler.
210hp at the wheels
