Hey those of you who have done this swap. what did you do about the passenger side motor mount?
did you cut off the piece that holds the injection pump and just use the AAZ one?
or did you ditch the AAZ injection pump bracket and use the one from your 1.6?
or is there a 3rd solution?

I am trying to keep the car running with the 1.6 up until it is time to do the swap as it is my only car. so minimizing the amount of swapping would be ideal.

Thanks for your help,
Ryan

I went from a 1.7 gas 4 speed to a 5 speed AAZ, used the AAZ mount , had to trim the timing belt coverand used the rh rear AAZ mount, also had to purchase a MK 5 speed trans mount bracket.

I will get the number for that and post it.

I cut the metal lines as the come up the firewall, added a fuel filter assy, filler neck pipe
removed fuel pump and accumalator and replumbed that area

The issue here is that on the diesel MK1 the injection pump is held by the passenger motor mount and then a second piece bolts to it and the block.
You bring up a interesting point, that is that I could try and find a gasser mount, of course then I would need to get a new mount pressed in.
Finding a shop around here to do that was a special kind of hell. I must have gone to ten places. Might be easier just to mod the mount.

i must be lost. why not just take a 1.5 or 1.6 mount and bolt it on the AAZ? whats stoping it from bolting right on like a 1.5 or 1.6? does the inj pump mount that much differently?

I have the images, email me at [email protected] for them and you may post here..

Use a gasser mount or modify the 1.6 mount
