mate, this subject has been more than covered, in fitting it to a mk1 the only issues are with interference with other components, injection pump is the same size as a TD one, so it fits

Oh a PD? I'm not sure anyone has put a pd into a mk1. You'd have a lot of engine mount mods to do. The pd mounts are on the sides and a dogbone mount on the bottom which connects to the rear subframe. As far as I know, this is completely different than on a mk1.

I know someone who has done this here in the US It isn't too difficult.
What size PD are you wanting to use PD-150? even the little 1.4 AMC engine code
Lupo or polo would be cool in a MarkI.
Just use the EDC-15+ ECU and it will go together pretty good.

Bonjourno Sabatino,
Yes, A PD-130 would not be very hard either. Is that an engine of choice or do you have one already?
You see, you are very lucky to be there because there are many parts available to you that we don't have here in the USA!
Regardless of which 1.9, 8 valve PD engine you choose, you can use the engine wiring harness from the European model to make that engine work in almost anything! A complete doner car will make it much easier for you if you choose to use the gauge cluster/dash. You would have all the wiring there to work with! Transmission and all the other goodies will be there to.

Myself, if I were to do such a project, I would be looking for a PD 150 car!! for power, you could make 250HP without too much trouble. or if you really want economy you could get about 90MPG with a 1.4l lupo motor!

You're going to need the entire pd wiring harness. Including the instrument panel. I hope you are good with vagcom and wiring. It would be a headache of epic proportions. Good job if you can succeed.

In a perfect world, yes it is the easiest way to go. However, you can make the PD engine run though and monitor everything that you want...oil pressure, water temp tach, EGT's (even manifold pressure if you like) and re-flash the ECU with both an immobilizer delete and "cluster-delete" also so it's only function is strictly
"basic"engine/throttle managment. Kind of like we did here on our dual VW lupo PD-75 drilling rig!
http://www.streettoys2000.com/proddetail.php?prod=drillingrigon the hydrologic side it is still basically "stock" 75HP and the "air-compressor side" is running about 120HP smoke free. This works with NO VW gauges.
