I think the splines are the same. I'm pretty sure that is exactly what I have in my car. I keep forgetting my tranny code for some reason though.

Keep the diesel flywheel. TDC isn't marked on the gasser one. It's 8 degrees off or something to that effect.

You'll probably hate the ratios with the AAZ though. Mine is NA and I find them too short.

99% sure you will want to take everything from the aaz and put it on the acn.  I bought a 1.9 flywheel to put on my 1.6TD as it has a larger diameter and should have more holding power. I believe you want a 210mm clutch setup with the small 24 spline hub

ACN is about as good as you'll get for an 020. I've got a 4S 020 and it sucks above 80 km/h because it's geared too short and the 4S is an oem diesel trans. If you popped a .71 fifth in the ACN you'd have probably the best 020 diesel ratios.

This, http://www.scirocco.org/gears/ says the stock FF and ACN are the aaalmooost the same in fifth gear, at 5000rpm the FF will go 125mph and the ACN will go 126mph, the ACN with a .71 fifth will go 133mph.

Almost not worth the effort of swapping fifth gear.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Your AAZ came from a Passat then with a 02A tranny. You can get the AAZ clutch setup that is the same as the 020

Tyler is right. I'm running a stock diesel 210 mm clutch ('93-'93 mk3 golf/jetta) on an AAZ in my 92 jetta with an 020 trans. Other option (using in the one I'm building) is a 16V pressure plate with the 8V gasser disc with the diesel flywheel. Supposed to be good for more torque.

well, if the flywheel mounts to the crank, you cant use it.
if the flywheel bolts to the pressure plate then the crank, you can use it.

Just make sure that whatever flywheel you use has the proper TDC mark on it. Gas ones don't always

if you are good enough, you can scribe a proper mark on a gasser wheel tho. and they are MUCH lighter.
