First, read
THIS POST
by GEE-BEE; offering hose construction services.
Now, to keep things orderly, I want to start a separate thread to gather signatures for a group buy on VANAGON DIESEL coolant hose sets. I'll be providing a master set for the molds. No set price yet, but estimated between $275-$325. We need at least 25 buyers for optimum pricing.
Please spread the word to all Vanagon owners you know, original Diesel and IDI/TDI conversions will all be able to use this hose set. New rubber sets are NLA here.
Firmer pricing will be set once the mfg. sees the actual hoses.

I will sign up for a set, particularly if it follows 1983 Diesel Vanagon hose group. I would encourage an interface to the 1983 Coolant Reservoir as the 1982 version didn't support the coolant level switch. The hose connections were larger than the '82 and sleeves to fit the earlier version are easier to implement than necking up a size.

I'm in for at least one set. I prefer the JX as well. Is there a proposed completion/delivery date (roughly)?
Thanks.

How do the JX hoses compare to the TIICO hoses at Van Cafe?
http://www.van-cafe.com/home/van/page_150
I'm a big fan of a universal hose that would work with the smaller (and NLA) '82 and '83 coolant pipes, as well as the smaller '82 coolant reservoir. Stepped ends could work.
I'm am curious, however, about hose length differences between the '82 stock mounts (2" forward) and the '83 and later mounts. I guess there could be length differences between the '83 coolant pipes and the later larger plastic pipes as well..

Those arent silicone, the mfg can always make the hose longer to meet the need's of both models, they can be reduced at the end's also for those model's
It's the bends we have to be careful about
Please use silicone type clamp's: breezeclamps.com
I will have more info on clamp's from another vendor for the silicone hose kit, it will be a seperate item....
Cheer's to all for starting a solution to a small problem..
I would consider these hose a Lifetime Type

Would it be worth it to make the front radiator hoses as well? Not the 14' fore-aft hoses, just the radiator connections...
I can't imagine what the long hoses would cost to make and ship...

it's amazing there isn't a company in North America who can make these and be price competitive.
