plugged radiator?
« on: November 27, 2009, 12:16:09 pm »
after putting in a new water pump, which had a bad housing, I'm still getting a cold lower hose after enough driving to warrant the thermostat opening.  thermostat was checked before I put it in the pump.  has to be a plugged radiator, huh?  Its a 81 n/a 1.6.

Is the engine getting too hot?

The lower hose comes out of the rad so it shouldn't be very hot or you wouldn't have any cooling ability left, hence, you'd overheat.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

hasn't yet, but I have yet to take it up the hill to test it for real.  just thought that the lower hose was a little too cool for the temp guage to be reading in the middle by the light.  Its a 81 rabbit motor living in a mk2 jetta that was originally a gasser.  I was hoping that it would read a little lower after the new water pump.  pc for clicks
