TDI into a G-wagon
« on: November 22, 2009, 02:39:22 pm »
has any body ever seen a VW diesel shoved into an older style Mercedes Gwagon ? Where i work we have a bunch for sale but they are all gasser automatics. I could find a merc diesel, but they all seem to go for big $$$, where as i can always get my hands on VW diesels cheap.

And they are diesel ?  I may have to figure a cheap way of getting one shipped here. It seems there are many more diesel mercs in the states than here for some reason.

i found four 5 cylinder merc diesels, and a couple 4 cyl merc diesels. all were pretty complete. but all were also missing some parts. you have to get at the ones that just cone in, not the ones that are well picked over. but for $244.xx, who can ***, its a whole engine. and im not for sure on the price. im pretty sure the diesels are also the same price as gas engines at this particular yard.

I think all the northern cars rusted into nothingness similar to the earlier vw's.

Yeah it's fairly rare to see anything more than 12 years old here, unless it's stored away. One reason i haven't seen a pre 1980 rabbit in at least 15 years !
