im shaft bearing replacement
« on: November 19, 2009, 01:11:25 pm »
hey guys, I am about to replace the IM shaft bearings in my block, and have read the threads about doing so.

I do have one question that does not seem to be addressed in said threads.

do you guys recommend using the new bearing to push the old one out, or do you recommend carefully cutting the old one out with a hacksaw blade/equivalent?

Neither. Make or get made a tool. Any machine shop can lathe it out for you.

Here's a pic. I'll post the measurements if you want them. Works great.

I guess I missed that part of your post.

I will be making a tool out of a 1" pipe cap, as suggested by someone in those threads.

thanks!
