what would be an easy turbo upgrade for the standard 1.9 aaz turbo and easy enough to come buy!
I would like to run it at about 130bhp so nothing silly but want to worry some people,

If you are getting a pump from Giles don't waste your money on a boost pin.

A K24 or T3 from a 1.6 would do well on the AAZ. Although you could certainly run around 130 hp on the stock turbo with a boost controller and upping your fueling. An intercooler would be a good idea at this point too.

If the stock turbo is a K03 you won`t get 130 hp at 18-20PSI.
110 at most
If the stock turbo is a K14 is the stock turbo 130hp is doable.

I'm pretty sure when he said k03 hybrid he meant k03 hybrid. As in ko3 cold side k04 hotside. Bora parts & kermatdi both sell them too. K14 would be great too for sure.

will the k14 just bolt straight on or will it need some work, and are the giles pumps expensive and where would you get one from! I have to get all the breaks working and some welding done to in the next couple of months! so there are long term ideas,
I have fitted the the intercooler of the 1.6 engine but needed some quick cash and had to sell the complete 1.6 engine with turbo and pump, wish i didnt now, but oh well we do some silly things from time to time.

There are 2 Standard 1.9TD aaz turbos, the K03 and K14.
All depends on how much power you want from your motor..

The Garrett T2 turbo was also standard for some years on the 1.9TD (1.9 AAZ Turbo Diesel engines 93-98 yr. Garrett T-2; VW # 028 145 703 B and VD2431F). This uses a 4-bolt turbo flange. For my elevation, a T2 or a K14 are the only stock options due to boost lag. I would be willing to try a GT series turbo from Garrett once my T2 needs to be replaced. The T2 is basically Garrett's version of the K14 but seems easier to rebuild.

Here's a link to his website. Very nice guy and willing to talk you through it all too;

As for the pump Peugeot 306or 405s 1.9 td are basically the same as the vw 1.6td pumps and are set up for 90 hp stock but make sure its a 1.9 not a 1.8 as they are 8mm pumps as opposed to 9mm on the 1.9 but both are set up for 90 odd bhp and if you can be bothered to sort out the electronic cold start the peugeot 406 uses a 10mm pump also a lot of the citroen diesels use the peugeot xud range of engines and same pumps

forgot to say if you go down the pug 406 road the 180 bar injectors from the same car makes a nice addition to the 10mm pump

406 pumps are 9mm heads as well im sorry to say and the injectors are 175 bar same as a 1.9 306/405.
Dont waste time with a 406 pump due to the electrics headache, that solenoid controls advance as well through an ecu.
