I have gotten my '85 N/A jetta almost back on the road. Waiting on some headlight adjusters so I can mount the headlights then I"ll be almost finished. I have some questions about this car that wouldn't be in any book that I can think of. Are the brakes sorry on this car or am I needing to do some work to get them better? They will stop but not like I"m used to. The trunk. I have had it open and pulled out the mat but the next time I went to open it, it wouldn't open. It is unlocked but it seems to be locked closed. The transmission seems to be iffy. Finding 1st is a guessing game. I think it's in gear but as soon as I go to take off, I"m either in 2nd or reverse. When I do get it in 1st it seems to pop out very easily. When I put it back in, it seems to be almost at the very edge of being out again. Is there an adjustment? Other than that, this car is a blast to drive, what little I have driven it. The odometer doesn't register miles. Is the odometer shot or does it have a gremlin that needs adjusting?
