Source for cheap intercooler couplings?
« on: November 12, 2009, 08:19:22 pm »
Anybody have any good leads for silicone intercooler couplings? I'm hesitant to spend $100 on a 90 degree coupling but if that's the best I can find I might just have to bite the bullet.  :'(

try frozenboost.com or mandrel-bends.com

they both have lots of silicone couplers for great prices, as well as t-bolt clamps for cheap.

they both ship for good prices too.

I've never bought from any of these places so I can't say how good they are. Also try ebay.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Just FYI, Frozenboost and SiliconeIntakes are the same company. Not the absolute cheapest on everything, but good folks, & fast shipping. I got my AWIC radiator from them, and I will be ordering the silicone bits from them also when I get my intake setup figured out. The radiator is a quality piece.

Also look at seller "ZENARACING" on Ebay, he's in Hong Kong, but carries many more sizes and variations than the US-based companies if you need something odd for your setup. I have several pieces from him on my Subaru, including a complete coolant pipe set that replaced every rubber hose. Good prices and ships fast via airmail.

talk to GEEBEE he can also steer you in the right direction. If I am not mistaking he also does custom work.

I've used SI/FB stuff on several conversions. Holds pressure ok, but is porous: you WILL see oil on the outside of the hoses after a few days.

Try boostcontroller.com, I've had better luck with their in-house (usa-made) brand as well as the Samco hoses from UK.

Oo, nice site... thanks Karl.

Check this stuff out; Samco is selling self-amalgamating silicone tape... I've used this extensively at work, it's brilliant stuff, 101 uses. It's not tacky or glued, but adheres to itself like it's welded, especially when under tension. I could never find it easily outside of aviation or less than $80 a roll. They have it for $19.
