w-terminal?
« on: November 07, 2009, 12:07:29 pm »
so I have a 1990 1.6l N/A, it has the analog clock and I plan on putting a tach in it soon. I've read up on doing this but I just don't know if I have the w-terminal.
here's a picture of my alternator.... does it have one?

Yup. the thin red wire with the black stripe.  ;)

It drives the dynamic oil pressure warning system as well, which is why you have one even though you don't have a tach at the moment.

Installing a diesel cluster with a tach should be plug-and-play.

okay so I don't need to splice or anything, just remove cluster and plug the new one in in place.

I have a alt with a W terminal and a clock in the dash.  I would really like to have a tach instead of the clock.  If you know where to buy them, could let me know so I can get one as well?

Thanks

Do you know what your friend wants for the tach?  Does it work?

I tried to seach Central Auto Parts and got a million hits, anyway of narrowing it down some?

Thanks

try Central auto parts Thunder Bay ON. I left a message on Steve's answering machine about the cluster. You might get it for the shipping. It worked last week before the engine came out to drop into the Sami.

If he wants to sell it, I'm definately interested.

Speaking about tachs, I have one from a 92' that won't go over 3500 rpm in my car now- is there a way to fix this.

I do have another from a 86, but it has two connector to the gages not 1 connector like the 92.  Will this still plug and play?

I may be willing to sell the 86 if it won't work for me?  But it won't work for you either.  these are both CEII cars -- after 90'
