How much boost can the OEM GTD intercooler handle?

I don't want to blow mine up

Anyone?

How about the G60 intercooler? I'd suspect that they are similar....

Dunno about the boost but the GTD and G60 IC look the same to me  :-\ At least here in the UK they do... they're located in the same place and use the same air flow director thingy that sits on top of the battery.

I don't know if it's feasible but on my old audi 5000 I strapped the ic wth some big hvac duct clamps. It held 2.2 bar for a while. Might be a good safety precaution if it's doable.

I made a post on vortex about the G60 intercooler and was advised of people running 20 psi but that it's really not efficient past stock boost. Although one guy said that if stopped being efficient at 17 psi. This is for a gas engine though, so I'm not sure how or if the CFM of a diesel changes this at all

just knock a few pounds of efficient boost off for a diesel engine. cause everyone knows how much air a diesel sucks in.

The core is the same but the end tanks are different, the GTD has inlet and outlet on the top, so the air goes round in a U shape whereas the G60 the inlet is at the bottom and the outlet at the top, also the G60 has a built in temp sensor.

Thanks for those pictures GTD.

I still hate turbos, don't worry. I just needed a cheap diesel winter beater and this car fit the bill. I figure I may as well have some fun and try and bow it up once spring rolls around though

try and blow it up? why would you do such a thing? you know you can un bolt that turbo, and have an instantly gutless n/a. you could also sell it and make some $$$ back.
