Any nissan sentra diesel owners out there?

im looking at buying a diesel sentra. are these engines in them (CD17) any good? they are n/a right? i know nothing about nissans like i do vw's. so anyones insight would be greatly appreciated. if its a good deal, i dont want to miss out on it. but it needs the IP re sealed.

Wow, didn't know sentras ever came with diesel engines in the states..  what year are you looking at?

Early to mid-80's were the diesels from Nissan, IIRC. I know a few that had them, never a complaint. And with the net going worldwide these days, I  can't recall ever hearing anything bad about them.

But the guru's on here may know more.

so, the car disappeared before i jumped on it. and i ended up buying an 85 GTI anyway. i know, its a gasser, but it runs really good, and i only paid 300 bucks for it. and everything works.. its like, a bare bones GTI tho, doesnt even have red stripe interior or recaros in it. and the windows were crank um up. whatever tho, it will make a decent rig once its dieselized.

the nissan CD17 are tough engines that refuse to quit, get quite similar mpg to VW 1.6 - sound like a vw 1.6 too, its just the insane timing marks that are a pain..

vw forces you to positively lock the engine rotating assy and tension the belt. nissan have this genius pot smoke idea to mark the belt rather than the engine.. then pray it doesnt move when you tension the belt roller and tighten to 90 lb/ft
