AHU 1.9Tdi modifications, what can be done?
« on: October 22, 2009, 10:11:52 am »
Hi guys 'n' girls

im brand new to this forum and have just managed to get my hands on a mk3 1.9Tdi AHU engined Golf.

I was pointed to this site from a member on edition 38 who said this site will tell me all i need to know, i hope hes right! lol

I am quite pleased with the current power as it is ( i have come from a 1.4 6n polo! lol so anything is faster! :D)

But i was wondering what sort of engine modifications can i do to get a bit more power out of it? it seems to die out quite quickly at top end, and i feels as if it could go faster with a bit of tuning. I think the AHU that i have is the 90bhp engine ???, i know that there is a 110bhp model which uses a similar 1.9 engine, is there anyway i can use parts from a 110bhp model to give me the same power, or is it not quite as simple as that? ???

hope someone can help me  ;D

oh heres a quick pic of the old beast as it stands... ive only had it 3 weeks so i have a few changes in mind! mainly wheels orinantated i would mind i nice set of bbs rm's but thats ust dreaming so im on the look out for some <£300 or lower priced wheels! lol

cheers,

steve

You can do a good amount. the basic mods are typically a set of injector nozzles and a chip.

There are exhaust upgrades, downpipe upgrades, different intake manifolds, FMIC, larger turbos, larger IC plumbing, larger injector pumps, fuel lift pumps and the list goes on. This site is really good for IDI diesels but personally I have found the www.tdiclub.com to be the best place to learn about TDI related engines.

I had bigger nozzles and ECU chipped. Ton's 'o fun. BUT get ready to uprate your clutch. every time i stood on the loud pedal, i would smell the clutch melting. Oh and front tires.

Here's what I did to my 1Z

Race520s, GTA2056V turbo with custom header, 2.5 straight pipe with magnaflow cat, Ali tune, 10mm alh pump, 2.5" IC pipes with front mount intercooler,

It's not all worked out yet, but it's getting there.

AHU 1 9Tdi modifications what can be done
« Reply #11 on: December 12, 2009, 08:10:10 am »
Hello

This is the setup Im planning for my polo 9N TDI 100bhp standard.
Can anyone see any problems with this setup?
What sort of power and torque can I expect?
And what will be the weak link in more power or reliability?

100PD engine
160PD intake
130PD injectors
130PD turbo
stainless downpipe and exhaust, no cat
Seat sport front intercooler.
Lightened G60 flywheel with uprated clutch.

And a custom remap, when all fitted.

I know this is a Seat forum, but there seems lots of info on here. Thansk for any advice.

Create your own topic. Your engine is not a VP TDI...
But you can hope 180hp.
