Any good reason to keep the stock blow off valve on a 1.6 TD? iTS AN 85 engine.
Thanks
Dennis
none that I can think of.
it was designed to keep the boost down if the wastegate got stuck.
if you have a boost gauge, you can tell if the wastegate gets stuck, and let off the pedal.
it was a safety measure for the car in stock form(without boost gauge)
block it off, they very often leak boost.
you cant get anything over 15 psi with those bastards on the manifold. cap it off. or just drill a hole through it and put a bolt with a 22r valve cover washer/grommet on the head of the bolt. it seals nicely. and then you can hook all your stock hoses up like you never did anything. the BOV is still there, just not functional.
Good deal. Im just going to remove it, and block the hole. It's in the way of my intake tube.
I have been a mechanic for a long time, but I have learned o lot from the group here.
Thanks
Giles makes a block off for that hole out of aluminium, its posted in the vendors section.

or just pick up 20 cents of aluminum stock and spin an aluminum plug. use stock o-ring and clamp. voila...
